Abstract:
Publishing represents a fundamental part in research and knowledge, and understanding of its inner workings is key aspect of successful research activity. The talk will provide a walk through of the landscape of Nature and Nature-related journals, presenting an overview of all the potential publication venues within the family and indications on what should guide the choice on where to submit. It will also delve deeper into the whole editorial process, from submission to publication, to present insights on what the editor’s job entails and how decisions are made. The key criteria for selection and publication of research in Nature Medicine and more broadly will also be presented.
Biography:
Lorenzo Righetto studied Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Milano but was then involved in research in infectious diseases modelling during his PhD at EPFL. He was also a postdoc at Politecnico di Milano and Human Technopole, where he also worked more broadly in areas related to data science and healthcare, with a focus on pharmaceutical R&D. He joined Nature Communications as their digital medicine editor in January 2020 and has taken the same role at Nature Medicine, starting in December 2022.
